The inspiration

This scholarship was created to honor the lives of two very great men. Below are their stories

OSERESU

Also known as Alhaji Garba Isimbabi was a youth leader during his hay days and a thought leader in his old age. He was a famed horseman and a renowned singer, he was so good a singer that his first wife a princess was gifted to him after one of his performances at a royal palace.

He was a gifted healer and rose to prominence as a herbal doctor when we concocted a cure to the dreaded cholera epidemic that took hundreds of lives in umaisha in the 19somethingsomething. This feat brought him to the recognition of the ministry of health and he was granted a license to officially practice as a herbal doctor.

His depth of thinking and fair for research  shows that if he had formal education he would have become a renowned medical doctor. He was a staunch believer in western education and ensured his children went to school and encouraged his children to also sponsor other children to school

He was an upright man and always stood for truth and this earned him alot of friends and of course a few enemies.

WAKILI

Also known as Alhaji Ahmed Abubakar was given the title of wakili because of his uprightness, honesty and trustworthiness.

He was a peace-loving man and was a known mediator in his village and environs. It was popularly said that any issue that gets to wakili gets solved.

He was a very nice, kind and wise man that kings and royalty always craved his company and counsel. It was said of him that he could easily have lunch with kings and dinner with beggars as he treats each and everyone with the same level of respect and decorum. He was highly respected amongst his peers and deeply loved by all.

He was a wealthy fisherman and also had a great reputation as a singer but stopped singing when he started having kids as he wanted his children to go to school rather than take after his singing.

He was famously called father to all and hi stand on education was widely known as he encouraged all and sundry to send their children to school, small wonder then that he ensured his children went to school. He was also a staunch believer of the girl child education and believed education should not be the exclusive right of a particular gender.

He sponsored a great number of children to school and ensured all his children did same.

Baba wakili as he was fondly called by his children was a father to all and highly religious. He’s God-fearing and charitable attributes (amongst) others were imbibed by his children and this has traveled up the family tree extending to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren
